Hi! My name is Shana Murphy. I am a graduate of Lamar University and I also have a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Texas Women's University. I have taught for 21 years. Prior to teaching 2nd grade I taught 1st grade for several years, 3rd grade and pre-k.

Teaching is my true calling and I cannot imagine doing anything else. It is a very rewarding experience to watch the growth and development of each child through out the school year. 

My husband's name is Richard. He is a geologist for Acme Brick in Denton. We have been married since 1990. We have four children! Their names are Tyler, Ian, Luke, and Sam. Tyler is a teacher in Irving ISD. My son Ian lives in Denton, Texas. Luke attends Marcus High School and is a 12th grader. My caboose is  Sam and he is a 7th grader at Downing MS.  We also have two dogs and two cats.

We have a large family and enjoy watching movies, reading books, visiting museums, playing games, and spending time together. Sam was born in February, 2007 with Down Syndrome. He has been a blessed addition to our family. 

My family and I moved to North Texas in 2005 from Southeast Texas. We have a home in Denton, Tx. I previously taught at West Hardin CCISD for 6 years. We love North Texas and I feel very blessed to be in such a wonderful school district. Highland Village is a terrific school with a great faculty, loving students, and very supportive parents.
