LISD elementary students enjoy music within a rotation of specialized class offerings at each elementary campus. Students engage in singing, playing of instruments, dancing and rhythmic movement, and learn the foundations of music literacy and creative expression through performance.
About Mrs. Edwards
Mrs. Elasha Edwards is in her 27th year of teaching music. She began her career at her HS Alma Mater as the Assistant Band Director at Georgetown HS with Rodney Klett. In 1992, she moved with her husband Bryan to San Antonio to begin her career in Elementary Music at Carlos Coon Elementary in Northside ISD. In 1996 they relocated to LISD and she became the Elementary Music Specialist at B.B. Owen Elementary in The Colony. In 2003 Mrs. Edwards joined the staff of FME. She is DELIGHTED to join the staff of Bridlewood in 2016!!
She attended Texas Tech University where she received her Bachelors and Masters of Music Education. She studied horn under Anthony Brittin and piano with Dr. Jane Ann Wilson. During her time in Lubbock she played fourth horn in the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.
Mrs. Edwards has been selected Teacher of the Year in 1992, 1993, 1997, and 2004. She is a Lifetime Member of P.T.A. and an active member of TMEA; Texas Music Educators Association and member of Pi Kappa Lamda. She is a co-founder of Peony Music. Mrs. Edwards has been a presenter at TMEA and a frequent presenter in school districts throughout Texas. She is an active member of the LISD Elementary Music Advocacy Committee and serves as the Chairman for the LISD Festival of Listening Masters (FMLM).
Mrs. Edwards resides in Flower Mound with her husband Bryan (a former band director in LISD) and her two children Emma and Parker. She enjoys reading, gardening, and antiquing.
