Welcome to Hospitality! I’m very happy to be part of the Dale Jackson Career Center! Career classes are often taught by those who have first-hand knowledge of their industry.
Welcome to Hospitality and Tourism with Intro to Culinary. During this class, students will learn the fundamentals of working in the hospitality industry. Students who are interested in working people in a customer services industry related career, would find this class very beneficial. Students explore the 4 major segments of the hospitality industry which are Hotels and Lodging, Travel and Tourism, Recreation and Attractions, and Food & Beverage. We work hands on with professionals in these positions to better prepare our students for a career in the industry. During this class students job shadow at a local hotel to gain first hand industry experience and learn basic cooking skills in the hospitality kitchen. Students walk out of the class with the knowledge and skills needed to work with customers across multiple segments.
I graduated from Stephen F Austin with my Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Administration. I am currently working on my Master’s Degree through Angelo State University in School Counseling to bring more knowledge and skills to the students in the classroom. I have been with Lewisville ISD @ Dale Jackson Career Center since 2015. Prior to getting into education, I worked in the hotel industry at places like Omni Fort Worth, The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas, and the Worthington Renaissance, Fort Worth. I am a proud mother of two boys and wife to a high school principal. I live in Burleson, Texas and drive to Lewisville each day because I love my students, the school and LISD. My passion for helping kids grow led me into the education world where I have found my calling. I have a passion for teaching and am excited to be able to pass on that passion to you in my class and give you a set of tools to help prepare you for a career in an education related field.
