Welding

  • Welding classes require strong basic math skills, mental maturity and development to work daily with high voltage electrical, combustible gases, power tools, various chemical agents, extended periods of time standing in place, lifting heavy weights (up to 60 pounds repeatedly), reaching, bending, and working around open flames and intense heat.

In Welding, students will be introduced to the basic welding processes and will learn how to cut with Oxy/Acetylene and Plasma rigs. In Advanced Welding, students will learn welding theory, metallurgy and blueprint reading. Students will complete and receive a 10-hour OSHA safety certification issued by U.S. Deptartment of Labor.

For students interested in furthering their careers in Welding, Practicum in Manufacturing I and Practicum in Manufacturing II are also available.
