Laura Kirkland

Mrs. Kirkland has been teaching at Timber Creek since the 2007-2008 school year.  She taught 2nd grade for 12 years and this will be her fifth year teaching 1st grade. Before teaching at Timber Creek, she taught preschool and  was an education director at a child care center in Omaha, NE. She believes that children learn best through active engagement and her classroom is a student-centered environment where students are encouraged to be leaders.

A Nebraska native, Mrs. Kirkland graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a BS in Elementary Education and received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Mrs. Kirkland is married to her husband Kelly, an associate principal at The Colony High School. Her son, Tyler, is an ER resident at Kaweah Hospital in California and her daughter, Lindsay, is a law student at OU.
