Attendance Policy
The first bell rings at 7:35 AM. Students may begin to go to their classrooms. The second bell rings at 7:45 AM. All students must be in their seats and ready to start the day. Any student not in their room by 7:45 AM will be considered tardy. All tardy students must come to the office to receive a tardy slip before they are allowed into the classroom.
Attendance time is 9:00 am. If your child is not present at 9:00, he or she will be counted absent. Please report your child’s absence by either calling the attendance line at 972-350-4899, emailing the WES Attendance Clerk, Kelly Perkins at perkinskb@lisd.net , or filling out the absence form at http://lisd.net/attendance .
The district will accept no more than 10 absences-excused and unexcused in a school year to excuse an illness, personal, or pre-approved absence. Any additional absences will require a note from a health care provider or documentation of an absence exempt from compulsory attendance, in order to be excused. Doctors' notes do not count toward the 10 parent notes per year.
Doctor/Dentist Appointments
We understand that doctor and dentist appointments are unavoidable during the school day. If you have to take your child out or take them children before school, please be sure and bring us a note from your doctor or dentist. These times are excused and will not count against your student if a note is turned in. Please email Kelly Perkins at perkinskb@lisd. AND your child's teacher with any changes to dismissal before 2:00 pm, if possible, to ensure the message is received. Unfortunately, due to movement of students at dismissal time, WES cannot guarantee dismissal changes will be communicated after 2:45 p.m. Once you have arrived and checked your child out in the front office, we will release him/her.Absences- Reporting Absences - Please e-mail perkinskb@lisd.net or call attendance 972-350-4899.
- Documentation - Excused/Unexcused Absences. If student's absence resulted in a doctor's visit, please provide a doctor's note to the front office within 3 days of absence for it to be excused.
