• Attendance Policy

First bell rings at 7:35 AM. Students may begin to go to their classrooms. The second bell rings at 7:45 AM. All students must be in their seats and ready to start the day. Any student not in their room by 7:45 AM will be considered tardy. All tardy students must come to the office to receive a tardy slip before they are allowed into the classroom.

LISD will accept no more than 8 parent notes in a school year to excuse an illness, personal, or pre-approved absence. No more than 6 notes may be used in a semester. Any additional absences will require a note from a health care provider or documentation of an absence exempt from compulsory attendance, in order to be excused. A parent note is considered: a handwritten note, a phone call to the absence line, an email or verbal notification regarding an absence.  The pre-arranged absence requests are grouped in with the 8 allowed parent absences per year. As always, doctor notes are great – they are the best! 😊 Please provide a doctor’s note to the office within 3 days of the absence so it will be excused. If you do in fact take your child to the doctor, always ask for the school excuse note from the doctor. Doctor notes do not count with the 8 parent note limit per school year.

    Doctor/Dentist Appointments
We understand that doctor and dentist appointments are unavoidable during the school day. If you have to take your child out or take them before school to an appointment please be sure and bring us a note from your doctor or dentist. These times are excused and will not count against your student if a note is turned in. Please email your child's teacher with any changes to dismissal before 2:00 pm, if possible, to ensure the message is received. Unfortunately, due to movement of students at dismissal time, WES cannot guarantee dismissal changes will be communicated after 2:45 p.m. Please do not call before you arrive to school, parents must be in the office before a student will be called from class for an appointment.

    Absences
    • Documentation - Excused/Unexcused Absences. If student's absence resulted in a doctor's visit, please provide a doctor's note to the front office within 3 days of absence for it to be excused.
