Welcome to McKamy Middle School, home of the Knights! I am the very proud principal, who in a happy coincidence, has the same last name as our mascot. McKamy has a rich tradition of excellence: we have been named the Best Public Middle School in Denton County the past several years; we are a National PTA School of Excellence; and we are a Common Sense School. We have had a National Spelling Bee Champion; our students consistently receive Sweepstakes honors at UIL fine arts competitions; our athletes consistently win district championships; and our students excel academically.

We are fortunate that many McKamy parents and members of our community engage with students and teachers in project-based learning (PBLs) as expert advisors for authentic, real-world learning each year. These performance assessments with embedded real-world experts ensure our students are future ready and they help students gain critical 21st Century skills.

The social-emotional well being of our students is important to us, so we invest in social-emotional learning (SEL) programs to address these needs. Partnering with you in raising children who can care for themselves, for each other, and for the community at large is one of our top priorities.

What I am most proud of are our campus kindness initiatives and distinctions we have earned, such as the No Place for Hate campus distinctions we have earned the past several years. I am also proud of our focus on multiculturalism. Our families represent cultures from around the world, and we enjoy learning about these cultures at our annual multicultural event, Culturally U-Knighted. Our caring and experienced faculty regularly engages in cultural proficiency training to create an environment that is respectful of the diverse cultures represented here. We are glad you have chosen to be a McKamy Knight.

    Sincerely,

    Kelly Knight
