• Hicks Student Council (StuCo)

    What is the Student Council?

Hicks StuCo is a true student-led organization. The purpose of StuCo is to give students an opportunity to learn about the government process, improve communication between students and staff, and promote school spirit. We also focus on many community service projects throughout the school year. Student Council helps sponsor special school events and even fun spirit days! Here are some of our favorite StuCo sponsored projects:

    • LISD Stuff the Pantry food drive
    • Rudolph's Red Nose Roundup - students get a red-painted nose for every donation
    • March Madness - fundraising project with a basketball twist

    Spirit Days

Fridays are typically Hicks spirit wear days.  Classes compete to earn a Spirit Stick on designated Spirit Stick Fridays sponsored by StuCo.

    Who can join?

Students Council is open to 4th & 5th-grade students who fill out an application and meet all criteria including A/B grades. Applications will be available in Fall, and all members must maintain grades and behavior to remain a member throughout the year.  Strong leaders who show wolf pride every day are perfect candidates for StuCo. There are four officer positions that are filled during the Spring for the following year.  Only 4th-grade members are eligible for an officer position.  Officer positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Historian.

    When do we meet?

Monthly meetings will be held the first Wednesday of each month from 3:00-4:00 in the Library.
