• English as a Second Language (ESL) is an instructional program for students whose dominant language is not English. The purpose of the program is to increase the English language proficiency of eligible students, so they can attain academic standards and achieve success in the classroom.

    • Teachers at Polser will be ESL certified and trained to use research-based, best practices with our Emergent Bilinguals to aid in their English language acquisition.

    • Our job with the classroom teacher is to help develop the language acquisition and cognitive academic language skills through the use of sound instruction techniques. The ESL program provides Emergent Bilinguals the opportunity to grasp the academic, social and cultural aspects of the English language through the teaching of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
