    Howdy Texans!

On behalf of the faculty and staff at Prairie Trail Elementary School, it is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to our school. As your principal, I love the opportunity to spend six out of thirteen years of your child's educational experience with you and your family. I also love being a Texan.

I feel very lucky to be a part of a staff that is eager to welcome our students to school each day. I know many of you were probably excited, or a little nervous, or if you were like me, a little of both for the new school year to begin. If you were feeling a little anxious, let me take some of that apprehension away by assuring you our main priorities are to make your child feel safe, secure, and, of course, loved each day he/she enters our school. It is only then that learning can take place.

Take a moment to imagine the elementary world: letters, numbers, stories, sharing, experimenting, games, collaborating, reading, problem solving, thinking, puzzles, role-play, etc. Imagination and creativity are everywhere. As you talk with your child about his/her day and celebrate her/his best effort on the work he/she does, remember that elementary is a time for exploration. Many times the process is more important than the product, and learning is accomplished by doing, touching, and experiencing. We learn from mistakes; let your child make lots of them.

PTE is always an electrifying place to visit. I love spending time in all of our classrooms because each age group is so different and unique, and each is always a year of growing socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Your involvement, interest, and enthusiasm will help make for a wonderful year of growth for your child.

Elementary school is a journey. We want to partner with you on that journey. Working together as a team, we can develop the “whole” child. Only through that partnership will, All students be confident, equipped with the knowledge and skills to thrive and adapt for their future.”
