Welcome Valley Ridge families! We are so glad to have your family and your children as a part of our VRE family.
As I strive to get to know each one of our students’ and staffs’ lives and families, I also want to share with you about mine! I am from the Midwest, born in Allentown, PA, but lived in a multitude of cities between then and now. I went to college at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and double-majored in Psychology and Communication Studies. After graduating, I moved to Texas and attended University of North Texas to receive my post-baccalaureate degree and teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education. While teaching, I received my Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. I am now embarking on my 13th year with Lewisville ISD. During those years, I have served as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and am not entering my 4th year as Principal. My family lives in Northlake and my husband also works for Lewisville ISD. We have 2 beautiful sons who also attend LISD schools. I guess you could say that we are a truly dedicated LISD family.
Something that makes Valley Ridge Elementary special is that we are a leadership and STEM school. In fact, we are the only school in the nation to be recognized as both a “The Leader in Me” school and NISE STEM School of Excellence. We embrace the paradigm that EVERY student is a leader. We utilize experiences throughout the school day, including Engineering experiences, for students to experience and identify their strengths and gifts and then utilize them to grow as a leader of both themselves and others.
I believe that one element of an effective school is clear, frequent, and open two- way communication. That means that not only will you hear from us a lot via a variety of methods, but we also want to hear from you! Know that we value your input on how to make VRE the best it can be for your child, so we welcome your suggestions, comments, concerns, and praises.
If you don’t already follow us on Facebook or Twitter, please do so now by visiting www.facebook.com/valleyridgees and “liking” us and following us on twitter by searching for @ValleyRidgeES or #VREJags. We will use social media frequently to share school news and the wonderful happenings at VRE and don’t want you to miss out!
Together, we will have an amazing year filled with learning and fun. We look forward to partnering with you this year and many more to come!
