Health Material and Ancillary Curricula Feedback Opportunity

LISD seeks community input on high school health materials and ancillary curricula in May.

LISD seeks community input on high school health materials.  

The State Board of Education (SBOE) issued Proclamation 2022 to call for instructional materials to support the implementation of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Health, specifically Health 1 in grades 9-12.  Instructional materials to support the Health Education Instruction at the high school level are being considered and reviewed in LISD.  Materials under consideration will be available for public preview and feedback from the LISD community at the following dates and locations:

  • Thursday, May 19, 2022 - LISD Bolin Professional Learning Center - Entrance E
    • 6:30pm - 8:30pm
  • Monday, May 23, 2022 - LISD Bolin Professional Learning Center - Entrance E
    • 1:00pm - 4:00pm

LISD seeks community  input on the option to select the ancillary curricula provided by the CACNT to support mandated education topics outlined in Senate Bill 9.  

The Texas Education Agency established Senate Bill 9 requiring school districts to offer parents an active opt-in when educating students on the following topics: dating violence, family violence, sex trafficking and child abuse. Lewisville ISD has established curricula to globally cover the aforementioned topics. The School Health Advisory Council has reviewed ancillary curricula from the Children’s Advocacy Center of North Texas (CACNT) that specifically addresses the four topics in Senate bill 9.  The specific curricula from the CACNT will be available for preview on May 23 at the time and location mentioned below.
