Memorial STEM Academy students and staff were recognized at The Colony Chamber's monthly luncheon held at Galaxy Theatres in The Colony, Texas on Thursday, April 18.
Teacher of the Month - Sarah Ezell
Sarah Ezell has been a cornerstone of Memorial Elementary since its inception in August 2021, starting as a kindergarten teacher and now serving as a dedicated 3rd-grade teacher. Known for her unwavering commitment, Mrs. Ezell exemplifies going above and beyond, creating engaging learning environments, and fearlessly tackling challenges. Beyond her classroom, she supports colleagues and administrators, making her an invaluable member of the school community. Mrs. Ezell's impact extends far beyond teaching, making her an exceptional mentor and ally at Memorial Elementary. Her contributions to Memorial Elementary are immeasurable, and they are incredibly grateful to have her part of their team.
What are your hobbies and/or what do you like to do in your free time?
Mrs. Ezell enjoys camping and hiking. Her hobbies also include supporting her two sons Landon and Alex – who both attend Hebron High School. She loves following her 16-year-old son Landon, on his bass boat that he received for his 16th birthday. He wanted a boat in lieu of a car. She also enjoys seeing all the things her younger son Alex welds. Encouraging both of her boys to follow their adventures is a full-time job.
What’s your favorite movie, TV show, podcast, or book?
Mrs. Ezell’s favorite movie is “Grease”, and her favorite book is The Book Thief.
If you could meet anyone from any time, who would it be?
Mrs. Ezell said that she would like to meet the Founding Fathers of our country. She wants to know more about the thinking that went behind them helping to found our country and how they would feel about where our country is now.
What’s something fun/interesting about you that few people know?
Mrs. Ezell has a sister that was born in Iceland. Her sister had dual citizenship until she was 18. She used to joke when she would get mad at us that she was going to revoke her US citizenship.
Who do you look up to and why?
My parents. They sacrificed so much for us. They always encouraged us to be better people and to follow our dreams.
Student of the Month - Alexander Hale
Alexander Hale, a 3rd-grade student at Memorial Elementary, has been a part of our school community since 1st grade. Although he is typically reserved, but when he smiles, his radiant expression lights up the entire room. This year, Alexander has shown remarkable growth and development. He has truly blossomed, demonstrating Maverick pride daily and consistently completing his work with diligence and determination. It's been inspiring to witness his progress, and his teachers are incredibly proud of the strides he has made.
What are your hobbies and/or what do you like to do in your free time?
Alexander likes to play on his Mini Hoop. His Mini Hoop is a basketball goal that goes on his door so that he can play indoors. AJ also enjoys playing Roblox.
What’s your favorite movie, TV show, podcast, or book?
AJ’s favorite book is any book from the Captain Underpants series. He shared that the books are funny and don’t have a lot of pages.
If you could meet anyone from any time, who would it be?
As a huge basketball fan, AJ said that he would love to meet Steph Curry.
What’s something fun/interesting about you that few people know?
AJ shared that he enjoys going to the pool when it’s raining. When it’s sunny I like to go with my friends, but when it starts raining I like to sit in the water because it’s fun.
Who do you look up to and why?
AJ looks up to his mom and dad because they take care of him.
Exceptional Student of the Month - Aarush Patil
Aarush Patil, a 1st-grade student at Memorial Elementary, has been a beloved member of our school community since his early days in PreK. Over the past three years, Aarush has shown remarkable growth and development as a Maverick. He has made significant strides in his academic and personal journey, exemplifying the values of friendliness, hard work, and resilience. Aarush serves as an inspiring example of a student who consistently strives to achieve his goals and overcome any obstacles in his path. We are proud to have Aarush as a part of our school family.
What are your hobbies and/or what do you like to do in your free time?
Aarush likes to play and run at the park.
What’s your favorite movie, TV show, podcast, or book?
Aarush’s favorite movie is Angry Birds. The characters are in the Sonic Dash video game.
What’s something fun/interesting about you that few people know?
Aarush is a fan of Hot Wheels and loves them.
