LISD STEM Academy at Memorial Elementary on its Way
The future elementary school site on Josey Lane in Lewisville, Texas continues taking shape, on track for its opening this fall. Now, with a name and a campus leader.
In February, the Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees approved to name the new campus the LISD STEM Academy at Memorial Elementary. The Board believes the selected name, inspired by Memorial Drive in The Colony, will honor those who have served the United States as well as memorialize a number of important and influential people in the community. Memorial Elementary will be a split-feeder campus, and most students will be zoned for middle and high school in The Colony High School feeder pattern while other students will attend middle and high school in the Hebron High School feeder pattern.
Also in February, LISD announced the appointment of Stephanie Lawson as the principal of the new campus. Lawson currently serves as an Elementary Virtual Administrator for the virtual learning pathway. Learn more about Lawson and her future role.
Lewisville ISD voters passed a bond referendum in 2017, with nearly 63 percent of voters in favor of the bond. Included in the bond package was a new elementary school campus on the east side of the district, the Josey Lane location.
The LISD STEM Academy at Memorial Elementary is on track to open fall 2021.
