The Colony High School’s McCarty Named The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union November Teacher of the Month

TOM1 Jamie McCarty of The Colony High School has been selected as The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union November Teacher of the Month – the third honoree of the 2019-2020 school year.

McCarty, who is he Student Council Sponsor at TCHS, was honored because of her dedication and energy given each day to her students and school. She exemplifies Lewisville ISD’s cornerstones of Student Learning and Student Experience by providing engaging, meaningful and relevant opportunities for students.

McCarty is involved in every aspect of TCHS. She excels at organizing TCHS homecoming festivities and involving not only current students and staff members, but former students, city officials and local businesses. She has a great heart for others, evident in organizing a huge canned food drive and contributing to local adopt and angel holiday projects.

“I’m very honored and humbled to receive this recognition,” McCarty said. “I love The Colony High School students and helping as many people as I can every day. I always enjoy giving back to this wonderful community.”

McCarty was honored with the award, which is sponsored by DATCU Credit Union, on Nov. 21 at the Chamber’s monthly luncheon held at Burgers and Bones. DATCU Community Relations Coordinator Mary Jacoby and the Chamber's Director of Membership Judy Ensweiler made the presentation.

McCarty was joined at the event by TCHS Principal Dr. Tim Baxter and Assistant Principal Jennifer Surgeson. Retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class and double amputee Dana Bowman was the guest speaker.
