Bailey Named New Mill Street Elementary Principal

Lewisville ISD announces appointment of Deborah Bailey as the new principal of Mill Street Elementary.

Deb Bailey named new Mill Street Principal. Lewisville ISD (LISD) announced July 21 the appointment of Deborah Bailey as the new principal of Mill Street Elementary.

“I’m excited to join the Mill Street family as the new principal,” Bailey said. “I look forward to serving the community and building a love for learning alongside an incredible staff.”

Bailey currently serves as an assistant principal at Independence Elementary, a position she has held for three years. She takes over for current Mill Street principal Susan Heintzman, who recently accepted a position in the district’s central administration.

Bailey has been a member of the LISD family for 15 years. She spent five years in a technology role for Highland Village and Parkway elementaries before transitioning into the classroom in 2010 as a special education teacher at Parkway. Bailey then served as a fifth-grade teacher at Parkway from 2013-2016 and as a Title I instructional coach from 2016-2017.

“Ms. Bailey is a dedicated and student-focused leader,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kevin Rogers said. “She brings a wealth of experience to the role, and I’m certain Mill Street students and staff will continue to thrive under her leadership.”

As an assistant principal at Independence, Bailey designed training for teachers on effective teaching techniques, led communications and SDI programs for students with special needs, and monitored and evaluated education programs to maintain high-quality performance objectives and standards.

A graduate of Stephen F. Austin University, Bailey received her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. She also earned a Master of Education in Education Administration from Concordia University. Her certifications include Principal (EC-12), Generalist (EC-4, 4-8), Special Education (EC-12), ESL (EC-12) and NISE STEM.

Bailey and her husband, David, reside in the LISD community. They are the proud parents of three LISD graduates.
