UPDATE: LLC Parent Notice | Oct. 11

Oct. 11, 2018

[3:30 p.m.]

Lewisville Learning Center Parents,

I want to update you on the situation from this morning, Thursday, Oct. 11, where we received a report that one of our students made a threat of violence toward the school. During the investigation by both Lewisville ISD and the Lewisville Police Department, the person responsible for this action has been identified. It was deemed there was no credible threat to our campus.

We take any threat very seriously. The safety and security of our students and staff is always our top priority. Laws protecting student privacy prevent me from sharing details about the specific consequences the student may face as a result of making such a threat, but please know there is the possibility of both school and legal consequences once the investigation is complete.

The most effective security measure we can have in place is for students, staff and parents to speak up when they see or hear something concerning. Together, we can ensure our campus remains a safe place where all students can thrive.

I am extremely proud of how our students and staff handled this situation today. I also want to thank both LISD and LPD for their swift work to guarantee our campus was safe and allowing us to go about our day of learning.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 469.713.5185. Thank you for your support of Lewisville Learning Center.

Regards,

Angie Deaton
Principal
