May 31, 2019 — Wendy Seeliger of LHS Harmon has been selected as the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce/Huffines Auto Dealership-Lewisville May Teacher of the Month — the ninth and final honoree of the 2018-2019 school year.
Seeliger is described as someone who is passionate about her role as an educator and everything it encompasses — the content, learning, experiences and opportunities. Her principal says she is driven by the opportunity she receives each day to be a voice for students to hear, see and even experience history, geography and all the world has to offer. Seeliger, who teacher General Ed and Advanced Placement World History, was recently named LHS Harmon’s 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year. She was also chosen by her Junior World Affairs Council’s (JWAC) colleagues as the organization’s International Educator of the Year.
“It is amazing that the community recognizes what we do for students as well as recognizes what students do,” Seeliger said. “It’s just phenomenal.”
Seeliger accepted the award May 28 at the Chamber’s partnership luncheon held at Courtyard by Marriott in Flower Mound. Huffines Auto Dealership-Lewisville Business Relations Director Fred Whitfield and Chamber Board Chair Dan Irvin made the presentation. Seeliger was joined at the luncheon by her husband, LHS Harmon Principal Tony Fontana and Lewisville ISD Assistant Chief of Schools Andy Plunkett.
