LISD students, parents, staff and community members enjoyed dinner and a show last Thursday night–all for a good cause.
Student Council and Student Advisory Committee members from high schools across the district worked together to plan the 2022 Lewisville ISD Movie Night at the Grandscape Outdoor Theater. Jumaji: Welcome to the Jungle was played as viewers enjoyed concessions on the outside lawn.
The entire event was facilitated by these talented students, from organization to promotion. They sold tickets at their high schools, arranged for emcees to host the night’s festivities and even created commercials to play at their campuses.
When it was finally showtime, attendees enjoyed the beautiful spring weather and watched the film on picnic blankets. The best part? Every ticket sold benefitted both the LISD Adopt an Angel Program and the LISD Back to School Fair.
“The Adopt an Angel Program is a program where a group of student and teacher volunteers work together to ensure that all of the underprivileged students in our district have a Christmas,” explained LHS Student Body President Keira Conner. “The Back-to-School Fair helps the students in our district get the supplies that they need for the school year.”
“We chose these organizations so the money we raise from the Movie Night will go directly back to supporting LISD students,” echoed Jaclyn Carpenter, MHS Student Body President.
Superintendent Lori Rapp leads the Student Advisory Committee, and has observed students planning this event for months. Afterwards, she praised the students for their hard work. “Great evening for the LISD Movie Night at Grandscape!” Rapp shared on Twitter.
