The Colony High School’s Khong Named The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union May Student of the Month
May 16, 2019 — The Colony High School senior Hesper Khong has been selected as The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union May Student of the Month – the ninth and final honoree of the 2018-2019 school year.
Khong is known as a bright, hard-working leader. That is evident in her being ranked No. 5 in her graduating class, The Colony High School National Honor Society President, an Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarship Recipient, University of Southern California Board Scholar, Quest Bridge College Prep Scholar and Quest Bridge National College Match Finalist. She also serves as a mentor to numerous students.
Khong plans to attend Wellesley College with a double major in Biology and Political Science.
“Being chosen as Student of the Month means the world to me,” Khong said. “Being academically driven is important to me, but I try to be very involved in my school and community. I want to help make both of them better than they already are.”
Khong accepted the award, which is sponsored by DATCU Credit Union, on May 16 at the Chamber’s monthly luncheon held at Growler USA. DATCU Community Relations Coordinator Mary Jacoby and Chamber Board President David Peerson made the presentation. Khong was joined at the event by her parents, Seagal Khong and Hong Truong, and TCHS Principal Dr. Tim Baxter and Assistant Principal Justin Gilbreath. United States Olympian Johnny Quinn was the guest speaker.
