The Colony High School’s Cotton Named The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union November Student of the Month

SOM1 The Colony High School senior Kaitlyn Cotton has been selected as The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union November Student of the Month – the third honoree of the 2019-2020 school year.

Cotton is known as a student who has maintained excellence in the classroom, as well as being involved in the entire school and community. Her great grades are evident in recently being named a National Merit Scholar semifinalist. She is instrumental with The Colony High School Student Council, serving in various roles. Cotton especially shines as Vice President of Student Services for the senior class.

SOM3 Cotton plans to attend college in the fall and major in microbiology.

“I’m excited and honored to be selected as Student of the Month,” Cotton said. “I always try to work hard, be a leader and spread kindness in my school and community.”


Cotton accepted the award, which is sponsored by DATCU Credit Union, on Nov. 21 at the Chamber’s monthly luncheon held at Burgers and Bones. DATCU Community Relations Coordinator Mary Jacoby and the Chamber’s Director of Membership Judy Ensweiler made the presentation.

Cotton was joined at the event by her mother, Carol, TCHS Principal Dr. Tim Baxter and Assistant Principal Jennifer Surgeson. Retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class and double amputee Dana Bowman was the guest speaker.
