Marcus High School Black History Club Sponsors Book Drive
In February and in honor of Black History Month, the Marcus Black History Club sponsored an African American book drive. Participants were asked to donate new African American books appropriate for students in elementary and middle school. The intent was to donate the books to one elementary and one middle school in the MHS feeder pattern.
However, due to the overwhelming community response, the club donated 158 books to nine elementary schools and five middle schools, in both the MHS and Lewisville High School feeder patterns. In addition to the Black History Club, MHS' National Honor Society, Student Council, AVID and Spanish Honor Society's also helped with the drive.
