LHS Parent Notice | Oct. 21

Dear Lewisville High School Parents/Guardians,

I want to begin by reassuring you that no students were in danger last night at any time during the Homecoming dance. It was one of the best we’ve had, with absolutely no issues. Our students were perfectly well behaved throughout the entire event.

As students were moving from the cafeteria to the exit, a few students heard a noise and began to run which caused a group to begin running, knocking down tables and chairs. The mass chaos alarmed the remaining students in the cafeteria, causing everyone else to also run.

At the time of the incident, we had administrators inside and outside the building as well as police officers. Upon investigation of video footage, nothing was identified to cause the running. There was no gun, there was no shooting, and after searching the hallways and cafeteria there was no residue or smell of fireworks found.

I understand our students and community are on edge due to recent events in social media and the news. Please know, if a true emergency had occurred on our campus, we would have communicated directly with you. Social media can be a great tool to share news, but it is also full of rumors and false information. If you have concerns about a situation at LHS, I want to encourage you to contact me directly for the facts. Our students are important to me. I want to assure everyone that their safety will always be our top priority. We are thankful for the partnership we have with the Lewisville Police Department and their continued commitment to our students, families and community.

Thank you for your support of Lewisville High School.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Kajs
