I need to make you aware of a post on social media that spurred rumors among some students today. A video stating “Hebron isn’t safe,” which included a threat against a current HHS student, made its way to several students, and was reported to HHS administration. We immediately contacted our partners at the Carrollton Police Department (CPD), and the situation was fully investigated. It was quickly determined the campus was not at risk, but CPD did identify a suspect.
I am proud of the fact that students reported their concerns to ensure the safety of our campus. I also want to emphasize the importance of not spreading rumors, which often leads to misinformation being shared. We encourage our students and parents to report any concerns to us or to the police, then to allow district and law enforcement to handle the situation from there.
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority, and I want to assure you that both the administration at HHS and the Carrollton PD take any reports of a threat very seriously.
The district is often limited in what it can share in situations such, but police departments often release information we cannot. CPD has not yet released any information on this situation, but if they do, you can find CPD news releases on the department’s Facebook page or in its Twitter feed.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school and our community safe.
