Nov. 15, 2018 — Lakeview Middle School eighth-grader Jusedes Gutierrez has been selected as The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union November Student of the Month – the third honoree of the 2018-2019 school year.
Gutierrez’s teachers describe her an extraordinary young woman with a maturity well beyond her years. She serves as the president of Lakeview’s Student Council, where she leads by example and creates a strong unified team atmosphere for her peers. Those who know her best describe her as kind, determined and someone who genuinely cares for the students of Lakeview. Gutierrez is a great role model for other students and often goes above and beyond to ensure her peers have a positive and engaging time at school. Gutierrez greets everyone each day with a smile and positive attitude, and her principal and teachers say they are excited to witness all she will accomplish this school year.
“I want to thank everyone for selecting me as the student of the month,” Gutierrez said. “It’s an honor and an awesome feeling.”
Gutierrez accepted the award, which is sponsored by DATCU Credit Union, on Nov. 15 at the Chamber’s monthly luncheon held at The Colony City Hall Annex. DATCU Community Relations Coordinator Mary Jacoby and Chamber Director of Membership Judy Ensweiler made the presentation. Gutierrez was joined at the event by her parents, younger sister and Lakeview Principal Jeremy Turner.
