Hedrick Middle School’s Lopez Named Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce/TIAA November Student of the Month

HMS Student Dec. 18, 2018 — Hedrick Middle School eighth-grader Elisha Lopez has been selected as Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce’s November Student of the Month — the third honoree of the 2018-2019 school year.

Those who know Lopez best said he is an outstanding student who has taken advantage of everything middle school has to offer. He is in the Honors Band, National Junior Honor Society and athletics, and has been named a “Hedrick Hero.” Lopez is part of the HMS Ambassador Program and was invited attend the Kindness Convocation leadership training. He is also responsible for raising and lowering the United States and Texas flag each day.

Lopez has a rigorous academic schedule including Gifted and Talented Science and Pre-AP classes. He is currently enrolled in high school credit classes and earned an incredible score on both the math and English portions of the P-SAT. He studies hard, but also has many friends and is liked by all of his teachers. He is respectful at all times.

“Winning Student of the Month is a surreal feeling,” Lopez said. “To be chosen out of so many students in Lewisville ISD is a tremendous honor. I am thankful for the award.”

Lopez accepted the award, which is sponsored by TIAA, on Dec. 18 at the Chamber’s holiday luncheon held at Bridlewood Golf Club. TIAA’s Antoinette Nevils and Chamber Board Chair Dan Irvin made the presentation. Lopez was joined at the event by his parents, Mark and Sharon Lopez, as well as HMS Principal Barbara Hamric.
