Flower Mound & Lewisville State of Education Luncheon | September 2024
The Flower Mound and Lewisville Chambers' joint State of Education Luncheon was held at Lewisville ISD's TECC West campus on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Food, floral and hospitality were prepared and served by students in TECC West's Culinary and Floral Design programs. Guests in attendance enjoyed special student presentations, received a State of Education address from LISD Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp and celebrated students and staff from Hedrick and Shadow Ridge middle schools.

Student of the Month - Adam Abdeldayem
Shadow Ridge Middle School student Adam Abdeldayem's preferred subjects are English Language Arts and History. His parents are Mona Keshk and Mohamed Abdeldayem, he has a younger brother, Hamza and a big sister, Salma. In the future, Adam aspires to become an App Coder focusing on developing games and apps.
Teacher of the Month - Jennifer Germany
For the past 22 years, Mrs. Germany has been a dedicated educator in Lewisville ISD. Teaching English Language Arts to students across grades 6-10, she has spent the last 12 years primarily focused on 8th-grade learners at Shadow Ridge Middle School. She strongly believes in helping students build strong foundations in reading, writing, and critical thinking as they prepare for high school. Throughout her career, Mrs. Germany has been known for fostering a love of literature and language, while also emphasizing the importance of effective communication and self-expression. Her commitment to her students' successes has made a lasting impact on her students.
School of the Month - Shadow Ridge Middle School
Celebrating their 20-year anniversary this year, Shadow Ridge Middle School was recognized as the 2023 Best Middle School in Denton County and is a finalist again this year. The dedicated staff is deeply committed to community service, exemplified by their initiatives such as creating Valentine LovePacs for The Oaks at Flower Mound Assisted Living and Memory Care, volunteering at the North Texas Food Bank, and participating as balloon handlers in the Dallas Christmas parade last year.

Student of the Month - Herman “Quad” Easter IV
Quad is an honors student at Hedrick who excels at everything he does. He currently has straight A’s, is an outstanding football and basketball player, and is a leader in the school’s AVID program. He leads easily by example, always respectful, congenial, and inspires others to do their best. Quad’s positive attitude, dedication, and willingness to grow makes him a joy to work with!
Exceptional Student of the Month - Mialexy Maradiaga Hernandez
Mialexy is an excellent student who is conscientious to keep her grades up because of her many extracurricular activities. Mialexy is a well-rounded athlete who has represented Hedrick in 7th and 8th grade participating and leading in all sports. She can also be seen cheering on her classmates as a cheerleader this year, which has proven to be a perfect combination to highlight her leadership skills and uplifting personality. Hedrick is especially proud of Mialexy because she has grown into a confident leader who inspires and benefits those around her. Hedrick is blessed to have her on campus.
Teacher of the Month - Ryan Popescu
Hedrick Middle School's Coach Pops is a favorite of students and colleagues alike. He has a strong work ethic that is portrayed in his Texas History Honors classes and on his girls’ athletic teams. He serves as an outstanding role model, building strong relationships with students through his quick wit and genuine care for their well-being. He is a highly valued team member, always willing to assist his colleagues and actively collaborating with his department to ensure student success.
School of the Month - Hedrick STEM Academy
Hedrick Middle School, one of five STEM Academies in Lewisville ISD, first opened in 1973 and has recently grown from the smallest to one of the largest in the district, now serving 870 students. The school’s diverse student body is mirrored by its staff, who are dedicated to fostering strong character and motivating excellence in academics, athletics, and fine arts. This year, Hedrick aims to boost student engagement by using all resources and designing lessons that encourage critical thinking and student responsibility for learning.
