Griffin Middle School’s Chad Chacchia Named The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union October Teacher of the Month
Oct. 18, 2018 – Chad Chacchia of Griffin Middle School has been selected as The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union October Teacher of the Month – the second honoree of the 2018-2019 school year.
Chacchia, a science teacher, was honored because of his dedication and energy given each day to his students and school. He is known for the way he encourages students to achieve their full potential. Chacchia is also described as possessing incredible work ethic and someone who genuinely cares for his students and their success.
Through Chacchia’s classroom efforts, eighth-grade STAAR science scores increased from 73 percent last year to 84 percent this year. Also, all of the sub-populations in the STAAR testing category increased significantly.
“It always feels good to be recognized for hard work and know that people notice,” Chacchia said. “However, the Teacher of The Month Award is tough to accept for myself because it’s such a team effort. We have a great staff at Griffin Middle School from the top-down and everyone in our Science Department is doing what I’m doing.”
Chacchia was honored with the award, which is sponsored by DATCU Credit Union, on Oct. 18 at the Chamber’s monthly luncheon held at The Colony City Hall Annex. DATCU Community Relations Coordinator Mary Jacoby and Chamber President Robyn Holtz made the presentation. Chacchia was joined at the event by his wife, Coshari, and GMS Principal Amy Boughton.
