Return to School Update | Sept. 4
The time is here! On Tuesday, Sept 8, students on the in-person learning pathway will return to our campuses, and we couldn’t be more excited to see you all. As a reminder, Monday, Sept. 7 is a staff/student holiday, and all classes, campuses and buildings will be closed.
A few updates for you:
IN-PERSON LEARNING GUIDELINES VIDEO
As we have mentioned, LISD has created a video to give you more details about what families can expect when students return to campus. Topics include district face coverings guidelines, health and safety protocols, lab-confirmed case notifications, student absences, and more. All families and students are expected to view the video before Tuesday.
LAB-CONFIRMED OR EXPOSURE TO COVID-19
If a student, no matter the learning pathway (in-person, virtual or virtual plus), is lab-confirmed positive or is exposed to COVID-19, the student/family should contact the COVID-19 call center at (469) 444-3558. The call center nurses will take students/families through a series of questions to determine when they are permitted to return to campus. For more, including hours of operation, visit LISD.net/covidcase.
VIRTUAL PATHWAY STUDENTS
Students on the all virtual pathway will continue learning from home on Tuesday and should remain off campus. Middle school and high school students on the virtual plus pathway should only report to campus to attend a specific class and will not be permitted to remain on campus once that class is over.
LEARNING PATHWAY CHANGES
As a reminder, families will have the opportunity to change their learning pathway (in-person, virtual or virtual plus) choices at the end of every 9-week grading period throughout the school year. Families will soon be provided a form to submit their change requests.
TECHNOLOGY
Grades PK-3: All in-person students who were issued an LISD device must bring the device and charger with them when they return to campuses on Tuesday. Devices will remain on campus and will stay assigned to those students. Grades 4-12: Please bring your district-issued technology with you to campus on Tuesday. All students should charge their devices at home nightly.
SCHOOL HOURS & CALENDAR
If you need a refresher, school hours are listed here and a downloadable academic calendar is available at LISD.net/cal.
TRANSPORTATION
Families do not need to sign up to receive bus services in LISD; however, students must meet these eligibility requirements. Bus routes and pick-up time information can be found at LISD.net/bus.
SPECIAL EDUCATION
Families have the right to request a special education evaluation for their child at any time. For details about how to begin this process, view our Child Find information.
