Falcons - want to see your favourite teacher dressed up like a turkey? Well, listen up! StuCo is having their annual canned food drive this year starting Nov 5th and running through November 12th. Members will be in the foyer each morning from 8:15 - 8:45 as well as at lunch collecting cans. Donating 3 cans will earn you one vote towards a teacher of your choice to dress like a turkey on November 14th, 15th and 16th. The more cans you donate, the more votes you get. So, let's gobble till we wobble Forestwood! Help us stock the LISD Food Pantry for Thanksgiving.

Hello Falcons! Did you know that November is Diabetes Awareness Month? There are over 1.25 million Americans who are currently living with Type 1 Diabetes.  Type 1 Diabetes is an auto-immune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. It occurs when the body's immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells. Throughout the month of November, across the country people are showing support for others with Diabetes. How can you do that? One of the easiest ways to show support is by wearing Blue on Fridays during November. It's a simple gesture, but it would be absolutely amazing to see the entire school turn blue by the end of the month!

Have you ever heard of sand fleas? They are a major problem in Uganda. They burrow into people's feet and cause pain and discomfort. The afflicted people cannot work or go to school, and are excluded from society, because others in their towns and villages think they are cursed, making them outcasts. A charitable organization named "Sole Hope" provides aid and education to Ugandans, and helps prevent sand flea infections by making shoes out of old blue jeans, allowing kids and adults to re-enter society. You can help support this effort by donating one dollar or more this Thursday to help the Forestwood Destination Imagination team carry out this necessary project and help "Sole Hope" help people across the globe. Wear a hat this Thursday November 8th, by donating a dollar or more in the morning, and show you care by covering your hair! Sold Hope thanks you!
