Dragon Nation News, 12/3
Greetings Dragon Nation.
We had a great week back from Thanksgiving Break. It was wonderful to see everyone.
Here are some things going on in the upcoming week at Durham Middle School.
We are excited about an opportunity this week for our 7th-grade students. Students will be taking a writing assessment this week to determine where their strengths and weaknesses are.
Our Counselor will be working with our 8th-grade students this week in their ELA classes. They will be provided with information about High School endorsements and four-year plans. Please discuss this information with your student.
Progress reports will go out Friday, December 7th.
We have been able to bring Mr. Hugh Jones on board as our Dean of Students. He will be working with us for the remainder of the year.
Spirit day will be Tuesday, December 4th. It will be Superhero day. Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero. We do request that students do not wear face paint or masks.
Also on Tuesday, December 4th our chief WatchDOG Mr. Bob Barnett has been able to work with Internal Freedom Services to coordinate a book giveaway for our students. We will be setting up the books that have been donated in the gyms on Tuesday. This is a great opportunity and we appreciate Mr. Barnett and Internal Freedom Services for organizing this event.
A few reminders:
Please check your student’s grades weekly.
Check student’s folders and backpacks. We are working on personal organization skill through Dragon Den.
Please consider joining PTA and our WatchDOGS program. Information can be found on the Durham Middle School website.
Thank you for working with us to help your child be successful. Please let us know if you have any questions.
