Greetings Dragon Nation:
Veteran’s Day assembly Monday morning November 12th at 9:30 a.m.   We are excited to celebrate and honor our brave men and women who have served our country and protected our freedoms.   If you are a Veteran and would like to attend please check in through the front office.  You will need your driver’s license in order to check in. 
Basketball season begins this week.  
Monday-7th grade Boys and Girls play.
Thursday-8th grade Boys and Girls play.
Ipad deployment begins.  During your child’s Social Studies class period.
Monday, November 12th- 8th-grade students will need to have their district-issued device, charger cord and charging block with them.
Tuesday, November 13th- 7th-grade students
Wednesday, November 14th- 6th-grade students
We will have our November Emergency Evacuation Drill this week.  
Coffee Talks with Mr. Holt- Tuesday, November 13th at 8:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the library.
Please remind your child to wear their school-issued ID. 
They must have a school-issued ID in order to ride the late buses. Temporary IDs will not be permitted to ride.   
Students will not be allowed to attend extracurricular events such as basketball games or school dances without their school-issued ID.  New ID’s may be purchased through the office for $5.00. We have provided two free Id’s to each child at the beginning of the year.  Please contact us if you have any questions. 
School safety is always a priority.  Attached is the Durham Tip Line number.  This number is monitored during the school day and we encourage students to use it.  If they see or hear something; say something. 
We are proud to announce that we are starting a Step team at Durham Middle School.  Our new Community In Schools Liaison, Hannah McAllister is sponsoring our Durham Step Team.  Please see attachment for more information. 
Thanksgiving break will be 11/17-11/26.   We hope everyone is able to have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving break.  We are thankful to work with you and your students.   We appreciate having them at school every day.
