Valley Ridge Elementary Named Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce/DATCU November School of the Month

VRE_Chamber Dec. 6, 2017 — Valley Ridge Elementary has been selected as the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union November School of the Month, the third award of the 2017-2018 school year.

“Our Valley Ridge staff have worked hard to transform our school into a learning organization that grows leaders,” Valley Ridge Principal Rachel Garrett said. “Through developing students’ individual strengths and providing them leadership opportunities, our students are starting to own our student-friendly motto, ‘I’m a learner. I’m a leader. Watch me grow.’ Our teachers, students, and school community have embraced our mission and are so deserving of this honor, and I am proud to be their principal.”

Valley Ridge was chosen because of its constant dedication, hard work and energy given toward student success. The pride and leadership students have shown through The Leader in Me journey, the moving Veterans Day assembly, the love and support shown for teachers during trying times and demonstrating the district’s Four Cornerstones through community partnerships, are just a few of the many examples.

Garrett accepted the LISD award Dec. 5 at the Chamber’s annual holiday luncheon held at MCL Grand Theater in Lewisville. DATCU Community Relations Coordinator Mary Jacoby and Chamber Board President Bill Collins made the presentation.
