LISD Board Votes to Officially Name Ronnie Gage Fieldhouse at LHS
At their February Board Meeting, the LISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the naming of the Lewisville High School Fieldhouse to the “Ronnie Gage Fieldhouse.”
Ronnie Gage was the beloved head football coach at Lewisville High School from 1991 to 2004. He also served as LISD’s athletic director from 2005 to 2009. During his tenure as head coach at LHS, Gage led the team to two state championships. He was later named one of the 100 most successful high school coaches in Texas.
But Coach Gage is also known for his legacy off of the field. He is a published author, and is known as a mentor who has inspired many of his past players to become coaches themselves. Every year, over 25 of his former players and assistant coaches gather together at the Texas Coaching Convention for a reunion.
LISD’s Facility Naming Committee received numerous recommendations for Coach Gage, noting his enormous impact on the district. “Coach Gage was called a shining star of his community and a remarkable human being,” Committee President and Board Member Sheila P. Taylor said. “We are proud to recommend that the Lewisville High School Fieldhouse be named after Coach Gage.”
