The Colony High School Wins First Softball State Championship

Lady Cougars defeat Willis 5-2 to take UIL Class 5A crown



The Colony High School topped Willis 5-2 to win the University Interscholastic League Class 5A softball state championship on Saturday afternoon at Red & Charline McCombs Field in Austin.


It was the first softball state title in school history for the Lady Cougars (33-7). Willis finished the season 41-8.


TCHS sophomore right-handed pitcher Karlie Charles was named the Nike championship game Most Valuable Player. Joining Charles on the 5A All-Tournament Team was freshman shortstop Jayda Coleman, freshman catcher Jacee Hamilton, senior outfielder Morgan Olson and senior outfielder Haley Ramsey.

Following the Lady Cougars’ 3-0 semifinal win over Canyon on Friday, the senior class graduated at home plate in a special ceremony with TCHS Principal Tim Baxter and Lewisville ISD East Zone Leader Leigh Ann Lewis. To see photos, click here.
