PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Independence Elementary students led the pledge of allegiance and Texas pledge.
RECOGNITIONS
The Board thanked campus principals and encouraged others to do the same as October is National Principals Month.
McAuliffe Elementary was named a 2024 National School of Character. This national certification is the highest level of distinction bestowed by Character.org.
Hebron Valley, Hicks, Independence, Old Settlers and Polser Elementary schools, Marcus 9th Grade Campus and McKamy Middle School, all earned an Apple Distinguished Schools designation. Due to the work of teachers and staff, LISD's Digital Learning and Technology teams, these schools join an esteemed group of 1,000 campuses worldwide to earn this honor.
SUPERINTENDENT UPDATE
As a part of her update, Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp discussed Hispanic Heritage Month, homecoming celebrations, Stuff the Pantry food drive, coat drive, Veterans Day, and other upcoming events. She encouraged the community to continue to submit Recognize Someone appreciation cards and reminded everyone that early voting started Monday.
