Rockbrook Elementary Named Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce/DATCU September School of the Month
The campus is the first honoree of the 2019-2020 school year.
Rockbrook Elementary has been selected as the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union September School of the Month – the first honoree of the 2019-2020 school year.
Rockbrook was chosen because of its constant dedication, hard work and energy given toward student success, as well as successfully implementing Lewisville ISD’s Four Cornerstones.
Rockbrook Elementary kicked off this new school year on the highest note – rolling out the red carpet to welcome students back to school and embodying the “Stronger Together” campus motto. In September alone, the school engaged families through “The Tea with Principal Guy” parent orientation, showed support for teachers and staff with coffee and breakfast items, placed emphasis on the whole child with creative visits by the counselor to kindergarten and first-grade classrooms, and has ensured students receive experiences that extend beyond the classroom walls. In fact, Rockbrook Elementary modeled the Student Learning, Student Experience and Community Engagement cornerstones when volunteers from the company DTCC visited the campus on Sept. 25 to teach hands-on lessons with miniature robots to third-grade students. Rockbrook Elementary goes above and beyond to ensure students thrive in a future they create, which is why the campus is the September School of the Month.
Guy accepted the award Sept. 24 at the Chamber’s partnership luncheon held at Courtyard by Marriott in Flower Mound. DATCU Community Relations Coordinator Mary Jacoby and Chamber Board Chair Dan Irvin made the presentation. While accepting the award, Guy thanked the Chamber and DATCU for the honor and credited his students, staff and the community for Rockbrook’s success. He invited Chamber members to visit and get involved with the school and emphasized Rockbrook is “Stronger Together” with everyone working together. Guy was joined at the event by Rockbrook Associate Dean of Instruction Kim Carns and LISD Chief of Schools Rhonda Godbey.
