Lewisville ISD Announces Four New Principals
June 10, 2019 — Lewisville ISD (LISD) announced June 10 the appointments of four new principals for the 2019-2020 school year – Amy Obenhaus, Arbor Creek Middle School; Kristy Casal, Lamar Middle School; Jaime Clark, Castle Hills Elementary; and Misty Bevill-Nelson, Hicks Elementary. The four candidates were approved at the June 10 LISD Board of Trustees meeting.
Amy Obenhaus, Arbor Creek Middle School – Obenhaus currently serves as an assistant principal of Hebron High School, a position she has held for six years. Obenhaus has been a part of the LISD family since 2004, and recently celebrated her 15th year of service with the district. Obenhaus also taught seventh grade English/Language Arts at Durham Middle School as well as Killian Middle School, where she was named the campus’ 2013 Teacher of the Year. Obenhaus is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. Obenhaus also has a Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University. She holds certifications in English Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies for grades 4-8.
Kristy Casal, Lamar Middle School – Casal currently serves as an assistant principal at Flower Mound High School (FMHS). She has been in that role for three years. Casal joined the LISD family in 2005, serving as a Spanish teacher for seven years at FMHS. She then moved into administration and spent four years as an assistant principal at Lamar Middle School. Prior to LISD, Casal had teaching stops at Lake Dallas Middle School in Lake Dallas ISD and Williams High School in Plano ISD. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. Casal is certified in Secondary Spanish and English as a Second Language in grades 6-12, and is also bilingual.
Jaime Clark, Castle Hills Elementary – Clark most recently served as principal of A.M. Story Intermediate in Palestine ISD, a role she held for four years. Clark also served as an assistant principal for two years at Westlake High School in the Austin area and was the associate principal at Permian High School in Odessa for three years. In addition to her administrative experience, Clark spent time in the classroom as a math teacher and volleyball coach. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Education in Educational Administration from Tarleton State University. Clark recently obtained a superintendent certification from the University of Texas at Tyler. She also holds certifications in Principal (EC-12), Secondary Mathematics (6-12) and Secondary Physical Education (6-12).
Misty Bevill-Nelson, Hicks Elementary – Bevill-Nelson currently serves as assistant principal of Coyote Ridge Elementary, where she has been for two years. Bevill-Nelson has been a part of the LISD family for 17 years. She has served as a teacher at Indian Creek Elementary, counselor at Central Elementary and assistant principal at Wellington Elementary. Bevill-Nelson received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Tyler and Master of Education in School Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. She has teaching certifications in Reading, History and Elementary Self-Contained for grades 1-8, as well as principal and counselor certificates. Bevill-Nelson is also a licensed professional counselor.
