Class of 2021 Update
Graduation
There are venue and date changes for the Class of 2021 graduation ceremonies. LISD is excited to share this year’s graduation ceremonies will now be held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco (9 Cowboys Way, Frisco, TX 75034). The district originally planned to hold commencement at the University of North Texas; however, due to restrictions related to the ongoing pandemic, this is no longer possible.
The Ford Center at The Star allows us to safely hold commencement and is available on dates that work best for LISD. Seating for guests may be limited and your campus will communicate further as more information becomes available. Your school will also provide more information about cap, gown and cord pick up in the coming weeks, but we wanted to share this news as soon as it was finalized so you can begin planning for the big day!
Please note, due to the venue change, some ceremony dates and times have been adjusted. Commencement will now be held the following dates and times:
Saturday, May 29
Marcus High School - 9 a.m.
Hebron High School - 1 p.m.
Flower Mound High School - 5 p.m.
Sunday, May 30
Lewisville High School - 1 p.m.
The Colony High School - 5:30 p.m.
Prom
Due to the ongoing health crisis and restrictions in place, including the likelihood of the district remaining in Level Orange guidelines the remainder of the year, LISD high schools will be unable to host prom this school year. This news is especially disappointing for seniors and families, and it’s disappointing for us too.
As the campuses explored options, it became clear hotels and other venues are unable to meet capacity requirements for the events. Despite all the challenges, our high schools are working to give seniors an alternative and memorable experience while also adhering to social distancing procedures and health guidelines. Your school will soon provide additional details.
We understand the updates shared today will be met with a mix of excitement and disappointment and you likely have many questions. Please know, LISD and our high schools will work diligently to ensure our students have an unforgettable end to their senior year and campuses will communicate more details soon.
Congratulations Class of 2021!
