Congratulations to the Marcus, Hebron and Flower Mound HS Bands!
The success of Lewisville ISD’s fine arts programs continued this week with three marching bands placing in the top four at the 2023 6A UIL State Marching Contest. Marcus High School claimed second place, Hebron High School placed third and Flower Mound High School earned fourth. This is the eleventh-straight contest that an LISD program has finished in the top three of the UIL’s highest class, dating back to 2006.
The 2023 contest, held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX from October 30 - November 1, featured 42 of the state’s top bands, with 14 advancing to the finals. All three of LISD’s competing bands, Flower Mound, Hebron and Marcus, advanced to the final round.
Marcus High School’s performance of “Above the Noise” earned the band a total score of 22. The Marcus brass and percussion sections earned top scores in their respective rankings.
Hebron's third-place performance of "Monomyth, a Hero's Journey" garnered a score of 23, earning top marks for ensemble and design. Flower Mound's "Deconstructed - a Journey Through the Creative Process" earned a score of 37 with the woodwind section receiving top placement.
While the UIL marching competition season has concluded, all three finalist bands will participate in additional events in the coming weeks. Hebron will compete in the Bands of America Marching Championships in Indianapolis November 9-11.
The Flower Mound and Marcus drumlines will perform during the upcoming Lone Star Classic Drumline Competition, hosted by Marcus High School on Saturday, November 11.
