New Outdoor Learning Center Prepares for Students
Construction on the new structure at the Lewisville ISD Outdoor Learning Area (LISDOLA) was finalized this summer. The Environmental Learning team, along with a group of numerous volunteers, is busy preparing the new spaces and lessons to welcome elementary students later this fall.
For students, the new LISDOLA experience will include four new classrooms, three patio areas, nature trails, team-building exercises and unique lessons such as plant dissection, skull and teeth adaptations, fossils, recycling and composting.
Lewisville ISD voters passed a bond referendum in 2017, with nearly 63 percent of voters in favor of the bond. Included in the bond package was a new structure for the LISDOLA campus.

In 1995, the U.S. Department of Education supplied Lewisville ISD with 84 acres to use for environmental learning, called the LISD Outdoor Learning Area (LISDOLA). The space is visited by more than 10,000 LISD students per year. From the beginning, Lewisville Independent School District has committed to ensuring all students—your children—have the resources they need and want to ultimately thrive in a future they create.
