Celebrating Black History at Huffines Middle School
With the support and partnership of the PTA, Huffines Middle School hosted its inaugural Black History Month Celebration, Feb. 11. Musical performances and special guest speakers led to a soul food dinner, together as a Huffines family.
The crowd sang along to a cappella performances of “Oh Happy Day” and “Lean on Me.”
As the keynote speaker, Denton County Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell motivated students by encouraging them to never give up.
“Don’t give up when you fall down,” Mitchell said. “Don’t give up if your reputation is damaged. Keep on trying. Somebody will see it.”
It was a wonderful first-time event for the whole Huffines community. See more photos from the event on Huffines' Facebook page.
