Peters Colony's Lupkes Named The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU October Teacher of the Month

Lupkes is second honoree of 2019-2020 school year.

Mr. Lupkes with Principal Chirinos and DATCU's Mary Jacoby Mike Lupkes of Peters Colony Elementary has been selected as The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union October Teacher of the Month — the second honoree of the 2019-2020 school year.

Lupkes exemplifies Lewisville ISD’s cornerstones of Student Learning and Student Experience by providing engaging, meaningful and relevant opportunities for his students. From building boats in science for buoyancy testing to using iPads to record the solving of math problems, Lupkes always find ways to engage his fifth-grade scholars.

Although Lupkes is new to fifth grade, he has served Peters Colony in various roles for more than a decade, including serving as a student council sponsor and running club sponsor. Peters Colony Principal Rebecca Chirinos says Lupkes volunteers for extra duties to help out whenever and wherever needed and that the campus is so thankful to have his positive influence. It is no surprise Lupkes was selected as the Chamber’s October Teacher of the Month.

Lupkes accepted the award, which is sponsored by DATCU, on Oct. 17 at the Chamber’s leadership luncheon held at The Colony Annex. DATCU’s Community Relations Coordinator Mary Jacoby and the Chamber's Director of Membership Judy Ensweiler made the presentation. Lupkes was joined at the luncheon by Peters Colony Principal Rebecca Chirinos.
