LISD Kicks Off 2024-25 School Year with Staff Convocation

Over 6,000 LISD employees united for largest staff gathering since 2018.

For the first time since 2018, over 6,000 Lewisville ISD teachers and staff gathered for Staff Convocation ahead of the 2024-25 school year.

In the spirit of LISD’s theme for the upcoming year, “everyONE,” the event, presented by DATCU, saw teachers, staff and district leadership come together at the Comerica Center in Frisco for an afternoon of connection, engagement and collaboration.

“We are creating a special culture and momentum that is getting people’s attention that great things are happening in LISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp. “We’re showing our community that the best place for children to learn is in our schools and our classrooms!”

Convocation included an opening performance by a choir consisting of students from all five district high schools, remarks from Dr. Rapp and a keynote address from Dr. Adolph Brown, III.

“Doc Brown” as he’s come to be known is a world-renowned clinical psychologist and master teacher, and spoke to the LISD crowd about to recognize the invisible “backpacks” that everyone carries with them that can impact learning, and the importance of focusing on becoming a “whole educator” before being able to focus on the “whole student.”

Through Dr. Brown’s keynote and Dr. Rapp’s message to staff, everyONE in attendance was inspired to welcome back students and begin the school year on August 13.

“This school year I am calling on everyONE to unite for public education and the funding of our public schools,” expressed Dr. Rapp in closing. “Because when public schools thrive, communities thrive, and most importantly the students, who are our future thrive. We are powerful, we are public educators, and most importantly we are One LISD.”
