Family Update | July 26
The first day of school is right around the corner, Wednesday, Aug. 11, and we are excited to see our students. As the first day approaches, we know you are looking forward to finalizing back-to-school details and are anxious for more information about what the school year is going to look like. Below are a few updates with more information coming soon, including back-to-school forms and technology updates.
WHAT WILL THIS SCHOOL YEAR LOOK LIKE?
LISD will begin the 2021-22 school year in a much more traditional way, resuming most school operations as normal. Restrictions and guidelines throughout the school year will continue to be dependent on health-related circumstances in our communities, and we will continue to follow the guidance of our local, state and national partners. A few important notes:
- Masks will be optional for all staff and students, although we recommend masks for all unvaccinated individuals. Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order GA-36 prohibits government entities, including school districts, from requiring the use of face masks.
- LISD will continue increased cleaning measures, including electrostatic cleaning of all classrooms.
- Contact tracing will still take place to determine close contacts and campuses will provide notification to families of students who were exposed to a student that is test-confirmed positive for COVID-19. Students who are identified through contact tracing will NOT be required to quarantine.
More information, including a list of FAQs, is available at LISD.net/BacktoSchool.
