Independence Elementary’s Swearengen Named Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce/Huffines Auto Dealership October Teacher of the Month
Swearengen is second honoree of 2019-2020 school year.
Erin Swearengen of Independence Elementary has been selected as the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce/Huffines Auto Dealership-Lewisville October Teacher of the Month — the second honoree of the 2019-2020 school year.
Swearengen is described as a leader on campus who is kind and dedicated to all students, parents and staff members. Parents know she will move their third grader beyond their learning targets in Dual Language. Students love being in her class because she truly cares about their success and knows how to develop leadership skills. As a team leader, Swearengen is quick to share professional learning and community strategies with fellow staff members.
“I would like to thank the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce and Huffines Auto Dealership-Lewisville for this award,” Swearengen said. “It’s an honor to serve the students at Independence Elementary. I couldn’t do my job without the help of the administrators, my team and my Dual Language partner Claudia Travers.”
Swearengen accepted the award Oct. 22 at the Chamber’s partnership luncheon held at Bridlewood Golf Club in Flower Mound. Huffines Auto Dealership-Lewisville Business Relations Director Fred Whitfield and Chamber Board Chair Dan Irvin made the presentation. Swearengen was joined at the luncheon by her husband, Tucker, as well as Assistant Principal Cathy McAlister.
