LISD Early Transfer Request Window | Nov. 18 - Dec. 6
Lewisville ISD will begin accepting general transfer requests for the 2020-2021 school year during its Early Transfer Request Window (Nov. 18 - Dec. 6). During this time, only current LISD students in grades K-11 will be able to submit a request. Please read the following information to learn more about transfer request opportunities in LISD.
Who should submit a transfer request?
Students who wish to attend a different school than the one their address is zoned to attend may request a transfer for the 2020-2021 school year during one of the district’s transfer windows. If you are not sure what schools your home address is zoned to, please view LISD’s School Locator.
When does the district accept transfer requests?
Transfers requests for the 2020-2021 school year may only be submitted in the LISD Skyward Family Access portal during the following transfer windows:
Early Transfer Window (Nov. 18 - Dec. 6): Current LISD students in grades K-11.
Kindergarten Priority Transfer Window (Jan. 21 - Feb. 6): Any student entering kindergarten in 2020-2021.
General Spring Transfer Window (Jan. 21 - Feb. 21): Any current or future LISD student who will be in grades K-12 for the 2020-2021 school year.
Pre-Kindergarten Transfer Window (Jan. 21 - ongoing; decisions made in late summer): Any current or future LISD Pre-K student who wants to attend a campus not zoned for their address. Learn more about Pre-K Transfers HERE.
Where can I submit a transfer request?
The district’s transfer request form will be made available in the LISD Skyward Family Access portal during each respective transfer window.
What if my child is a current transfer student?
Out-of-District Transfers
If you live outside the district’s boundaries and have an Out-of-District Transfer, under state law and LISD Board policy, you must request a transfer each school year. The district’s early transfer window is the best opportunity to submit an out-of-district transfer request.
In-District Transfers
Due to a recent change in LISD Board Policy, if you have an in-district transfer and live inside the district’s boundaries, your transfer is now approved to remain in the current transfer feeder pattern through 12th grade. This change is automatic and you do NOT need to complete any additional transfer requests to remain in the current TRANSFER FEEDER PATTERN through graduation. However, if you wish to transfer to a different school/feeder pattern for next year, a transfer request must be submitted during an open transfer window.
Do I have to submit a transfer request if my child is enrolled in or wants to participate in a special program?
LISD offers opportunities for participation in several programs of choice including its STEM Academies, Collegiate Academy, Discovery Academies, World Language programs and more. These programs require a separate application process and should NOT be requested through the district’s transfer form. More information about these programs may be found at lisd.net/choice.
What are the district’s transfer request requirements?
More information about transfer requests, including LISD’s transfer guidelines, may be found HERE.
