Highland Village Elementary student Camden Davis, teacher Colleen Weaver, and Highland Village Elementary were all recently recognized by the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce at the Courtyard Marriott in Flower Mound, Texas on Tuesday, May 14. 

Student of the Month - Camden Davis
Camden Davis is a quiet but influential presence at Highland Village Elementary. He is not one to demand attention, Camden just quietly goes about spreading kindness to all. With a remarkable ability to befriend students who grapple with school stressors, Camden serves as a steady oarsman in class, navigating through challenges with grace and compassion. Outside of school, Camden enjoys camping with his mom and dad, fishing with his dad, playing the piano, spending time with his Aunt Lisa who lives next-door, and traveling to Iowa every Christmas break and summer to see relatives.

Teacher of the Month - Colleen Weaver
Colleen Weaver brings a unique journey to one of Highland Village Elementary’s special education classrooms. Originally a student in Illinois, we discovered her through a Webex interview. Miss Weaver specializes in working with young students who struggle with behavior regulation. Despite sometimes facing aggressive and maladaptive behaviors, she has shown an ability and maturity in navigating the challenges presented with patience and compassion. Miss Weaver’s outstanding efforts were recognized when she was nominated as one of three finalists for the Lewisville Independent School District’s First-Year Teacher of the Year awards. This recognition is a testament to her exceptional skills and dedication to her students.

Located in Highland Village, the elementary campus is the oldest in the area. With roots that extend through generations, Highland Village proudly welcomes parents and grandparents who were once Vikings themselves.
