Return to School Message | Aug. 18
The first day of school is almost here! While we will start off the school year remotely until September 8, LISD staff members have been working around the clock to get ready for tomorrow. We know it is very likely we will experience some bumps in the road tomorrow and this week, but I know our students and families will work with us to overcome any difficulties.
Please watch this brief video created for you. We can’t wait to get the year started!
Video Message from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kevin Rogers
A few notes and reminders for you:
MIDDLE SCHOOL & HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULES
We know you have been anxiously awaiting your schedules. Middle school students should have received schedules yesterday, and high school schedules will be made available soon. It is important to note some schedules are not complete, and it is possible your schedule may contain errors or missing classes. Students may not get the electives they chose, but that is not necessarily a mistake.
Please do not contact your campus with questions at this time. If they have not already, your campus will communicate with you about how to handle any scheduling issues, and teachers will reach out directly to students via email with more class information.
Our LISD counselors have been working around the clock to finalize schedules. They could not begin completing master schedules for campuses until August 6 - the day after the commitment forms closed. While we understand this is frustrating for families and students, we appreciate your patience as counselors are working to accomplish a task in two weeks that normally takes months to finalize.
LISD made the choice to offer our students an incredible amount of options for in-person, virtual and virtual plus classes, and we are proud to be a district that focuses on meeting the needs of our students. An unintended consequence by providing this vast number of choices is the difficulty in getting all the schedules completed. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding. And thank you to our counseling and technology teams for the tremendous effort to make this all happen!
