Heritage Elementary Celebrates Holidays Around the World

Students in Extended School Day program learn about other cultures.

With many holidays on the horizon, students in the Extended School Day (ESD) program at Heritage Elementary have been busy studying the different ways people around the globe, and in their own neighborhoods, may be celebrating holidays.

Students joined together in small groups and were assigned a certain location around the world. They created large flags to represent their countries and decided on foods to share with the rest of ESD.

For the “Holidays Around the World” event, student groups used pre-recorded videos and live presentations on stage, to present their new knowledge to an audience of peers, staff and parents.

The Heritage cafeteria was decorated in different holiday decorations. Nearby each constructed flag sat cultural treats and drinks so that guests could get a taste from the different areas represented.

This student experience was a fun way to gear up for winter break, while still learning and sharing the different holidays from around the world.
